[This is an unpaid review of a sample product]. What makes this product stand out is its incredible versatility. Once you find the right shade for you, it’s all you need for lip coating, lip blurring, and cheek color. Convie is an innovative brand from France, known for involving its members in product creation. Although membership is optional, it offers a unique opportunity to contribute. Currently, there are three shades of Velvet Lip available, with more products in the pipeline, undergoing sample testing by selected members participating in the process.
The term “velvet gloss” seems contradictory, but it’s an exciting fusion of textures, providing a unique result. It uses natural silicone to achieve a velvety, non-drying texture, which appears matte but with a subtle shine. It combines the plushness of velvet with the lightness of a shine – a truly remarkable combination. I have swatched both on my wrist and on my lips, allowing you to appreciate the vibrancy of these lip colors.

From bottom to top: Deep Cherry, Rose Flush, and Barely There. If I could nitpick one thing, it would be the applicator, which I feel should have a slightly more defined shape – a curvier design for better lip application. I found myself thinking that I’d need to use a lip brush to enhance the application of Deep Cherry (which I then, of course, forgot to do, as you can see).
Featuring Deep Cherry (how did I miss that corner?).
Rose Flush is my go-to shade – an exceptionally wearable color.
I am pleasantly surprised by how well Barely There suits me. It’s a shade I would have overlooked, yet it’s a perfect match for my skin tone. For the brighter shades, a light application with some lip balm can create a lovely, subtle blurred effect on the lips. Even easier is dabbing a little color from the wand onto your (clean) fingertip, patting it over your cheeks, and blending with a brush. Notably, Convie products use at least 90% naturally derived ingredients. Each Velvet Gloss retails at £27, which feels reasonable for a multi-purpose product. There’s also an ongoing collaboration with French designer, Leopoldine Chateau, featuring a beautiful heart-shaped makeup bag to store your Velvets. Visit HERE for more.
