[unpaid/sample] Let’s face it, any hair dryer will get your hair dry. While a high-end hair dryer may not be an absolute necessity, if you’re looking to upgrade, the MDLondon Blow Hair Dryer is giving Dyson some real competition. As a devoted Dyson fan, I expected this pricier newcomer to perform just like any other dryer, albeit with a different design. Surprisingly, that’s not the case. It’s not only quiet and fast but it also genuinely contributes to the better condition of my hair. Six years on, it’s still going strong with no signs of slowing down since I got it for £299 (as a sample).

The MDLondon Blow represents a new wave of hair dryer design that has caught my attention, although it’s not the only one out there. A quick Google search for “newest hair dryers” will reveal a variety of similarly shaped models. Hersheson’s has just released an incredibly similar version, which makes it challenging for the average person to distinguish, especially given that their measuring metrics are slightly different. The Hersheson’s model costs £295, whereas the MDLondon Blow is priced at £195, and the former is slightly lighter. Both are significantly lighter than a typical dryer.

The MDLondon Blow operates much quieter than your usual hair dryer and is comparable to Dyson, maybe even a bit quieter, albeit with a slightly different pitch. Neither can be labelled as noisy, unlike many dryers that mimic a jet take-off sound. What really sells it for me is the speed and weight – it’s incredibly lightweight (and compact, smaller than a Dyson by a significant margin), making it highly portable for situations where the hotel dryer just won’t cut it. You can breeze this around your head without the usual shoulder ache, making it particularly helpful for those with mobility issues, where handling heavy or raised objects is a challenge. I’d make room for it in my carry-on, something I wouldn’t do with my Dyson, as that space is usually reserved for an extra pair of shoes.

While the price tag for a hair dryer may seem extravagant, it’s a fact that dryers now offer both luxury and improved performance. It’s not just about a stylish color or shape – it’s about enhanced functionality. The MDLondon Blow Hair Dryer features three heat settings, 1600w for speed, a three-year guarantee, two smoothing nozzles, and three air flow settings (I’ve never used anything less than full!). The diffuser attachment is available for an additional £25 (included in the Hersheson’s package). With the holiday season approaching, expect these dryers to flood TikTok and Instagram, so high demand is likely. Available in two shades – khaki and blue – both of which I appreciate; they’re more reminiscent of interior decor hues than typical gadget shades. However, if you already have a perfectly functional dryer that you love, this might not be a necessity. Nevertheless, for enthusiasts of high-tech gadgets and ergonomic tools, it’s hard to resist.
